Course Summary

Our Trauma-Informed Futures© Foundational Training for High School Settings is designed for educators and youth-serving professionals to become trauma-informed and supportive of young adults affected by trauma. It provides practical strategies for creating supportive environments that foster learning, resilience, and healthy development for High School students.

Led by Resilient Futures Co-Founders Dr. Megan Brennan, PsyD, Dr. Ellie Cahill, PhD, and Dr. Laura McArthur, PhD, the course explores the core principles of trauma and its profound effects on adolescents' brains, behaviors, and relationships. Participants will learn how to recognize signs of trauma in teenagers and respond with empathy, understanding, and effective trauma-informed practices.

Whether teaching in High Schools, working in youth-serving organizations, or mentoring adolescents and young adults, participants will gain tools to create environments that promote safety and connection for all students to thrive. The training acknowledges the disproportionate impact of trauma on marginalized communities and the importance of cultural humility in Secondary Education settings.

Adolescence is a pivotal time for addressing trauma and building lifelong skills for resilience. By understanding the challenges faced by young people and responding with care, educators can create supportive spaces where every student feels valued and empowered to heal, grow, and succeed.
